Willie Butcher ScholarshipWillie Butcher was an "ART" and "CTR" who was active in the Washington State Tumor Registrar's Association for 13 years. She served as the Association Parliamentarian for many of those years. She was employed as a registrar at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane until the day she passed away, March 5, 1992. She was a non-smoker who died of lung cancer. Willie felt very strongly about cancer registrar continuing education. She paid her own way to most meetings during her 13 years as a registrar. She felt that the state association should do as much as it could to provide continuing education opportunities. In honor of Willie's memory the WSTRA Executive Board in 1992 began the "Willie Butcher Scholarship" fund. This fund will award two $100 scholarships each year. Scholarship GuidelinesThose interested in the scholarship must submit an application prior to the WSTRA Spring and Fall meetings. One name from those submitted will be randomly drawn by the meeting coordinator and witnessed by one other person. The winner will be announced at the meeting and published in the next issue of the WSTRA Newsletter. You need not to be present to win. Qualifying Guidelines:
